Hurworth-on-Tees, near Darlington, lost 38 men during the Great War, of whom five were from the Wesleyan Chapel.

Pte. James Byrne  2763 5th Bn. Durham Light Infantry died on 16 May 1915, aged 18

Lance-Corporal Arthur Crooks 43681 10th Bn, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry died on 9 April 1917 aged 21. (His rank and regimental no. are incorrect on this document)

Pte. William Patchett 320032 5th (then 19th) Bn. Durham Light Infantry died on 23 April 1918

Pte. William Robson 78914 6th Bn. Durham Light Infantry died on 12 October 1918 aged 19. As he was buried in Worms, Germany, he would have been a Prisoner of War.

Pte Rupert Smith 19497 10th Bn. Northumberland Fusiliers died on 24 feb 1915
