Airton Wesleyan chapel, near Malham, was built in 1896 to seat 134 and closed in 2007. There was a plaque commemorating five men, which is now preserved in another church, and may be seen here. The website also provides further details of the men.

The four men listed in this Roll of Honour are:

Lieut. Ronald F. Morkill                       1st Bn. West Yorkshire Regt. / Royal Flying Corps

Sgt. Kayley Earnshaw D.C.M.           10th Bn. Duke of Wellington’s Regt.

Pte. Joseph Berry                                 New Zealand Rifle Brigade

Pte. Arthur W. Bailey                           10th Bn. Duke of Wellington’s Regt.

Sergeant Earnshaw’s brother is listed on the war memorial, although not here.

Pte. Farrand Earnshaw                      10th Bn. Duke of Wellington’s Regt.
