Carlisle, Newlaithes Avenue, Morton

Morton Chapel was built in 1963. The main building was coffin shaped. The school room was at the “head” end. It was 17 feet five inches long and the width tapered from 24 feet to 21 feet. The main hall was 37 feet 6 inches long and seated 165. The width ranged from18 to 24 feet. The entrance, vestibule, toilets, and a kitchen  were  provided in an L shaped structure adjoining the “foot” end.  In 1980 it had 75 sittings and three other rooms. It was closed in 1990. It was subsequently demolished and the site in now occupied by housing.
