Flamstead, Trowley Hill Methodist Church

Flamstead Methodist Church was the result of the union of Trowley Bottom Primitive Methodist Chapel and Trowley Hill Wesleyan Chapel.

A new building was dedicated on 21st May 1960 at Trowley Hill. The architect was Kenneth A Williams and the builders were Messrs H & HE Saunders of Markyate

Before the dedication service, the Rev T Roy Wareing lead prayers at the door and then it was unlocked by Mrs Elizabeth Rogers. The service was conducted by Rev A Kingsley Turner and the preacher was the Chairman of the North-West London District of the Methodist Church, Rev Lawrence O Brooker. Rev Thomas P Mayhew read the lesson. Children from both Sunday Schools sang “O Jesus I have promised”

The total cost of the new building was about £6400. The Joseph Rank Benevolent Trust donated £1500 and the Methodist Chapel Committee, £500. Over £500 came from the Flamstead New Sunday School Fund.
