  • The Ainsworth Methodist Guild.
On the 7th August 1956 a meeting was held for anyone interested in setting up a Methodist Guild a large number turned up and planning went ahead. A further meeting was held on the 2nd September and
Secretaries for the four sections Devotional, Cultural, Christian Service and Social were appointed. and everyone was appointed to each of the four sections.
When each section had filled there dates a syllabus was produced. each meeting on a Tuesday evening would begin with a hymn and prayer the chairperson then introducing the speaker tea and biscuits would be served at the end at a charge of threepence. Table Tennis would be allowed to follow for the young people. The Guild still continues but now meets on a Thursday afternoon.
I wonder if any other Guild has been going for 68 Years?
