World War 1 Roll of Honour

HEMINGBROUGH METHODIST CHURCH
in the GOOLE & SELBY CIRCUIT
 

In the old chapel, now used as a community room, are two memorials to two brothers.
One is a brass Wall Plaque, the other is a Memorial Organ.

The wording on the Wall Plaque is:
In affectionate Remembrance of two teachers connected with this Sunday School who paid the supreme sacrifice.
Pte. Ernest Armitage    15th West.Yorks
Killed in action in France,  November 8th 1916
also
Gunner Harry Armitage 4th Division
Killed in action in France,  September 2nd 1918
This tablet is erected by their fellow teachers and friends.

A tablet fixed on the Memorial Organ reads as follows:
This Organ was presented to the Trustees of this Chapel,
August 14th 1924 by E. & M.L.Armitage and Family
in memory of their two sons Pte. E. Armitage and Gunner H. Armitage who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-18.
