In 1938 there was a cinema on this site. It could well be that this building, suitably modified was the one used as a Methodist place of worship from 1979 to 2016 when it became necessary to leave the building on account of structural problems. The site is now awaiting redevelopment. In the meantime services are being held at Kingsthorpe Baptist Church (qv) and Pastures Community Centre

  • Prior to the move to the cinema in the late 1970’s the congregation was based at Central Methodist Church (also know as Regents Square) but due to the redevelopment of the town centre and new road lay out the grounds & property were purchased by the Council and the congregation moved to the Cinema. I worshipped at Central and attended the Youth Club 1967-73 when my father Rev G Clifford Hunt was minister there.

  • This building, which I attended from 1991 to 2003, certainly was converted from a cinema in 1976.
