Marlborough Road Methodist Church St Albans

Second World War Memorial Cross

I visited Marlborough Road today for their open day and was pleased to discover some information on the memorial cross for the four men of the church who died in the second World War.

I am obviously not terribly observant as I have been preaching, albeit only occasionally, in the church for almost 20 years and never realised that the cross was a memorial.

The men commemorated are:

Pilot Leslie G. Burton. died 1940;

Pilot Donald M. Bennett. died 1944;

Flight Lieutenant K. F. Jolly. died 1944; and

Lance Corporal John Freeman. died 1945.

Apologies that the photographs are not ideal I will need to return when the light is better and will replace them.
